Her mother later married Joseph Mitchell. Mitchell was an undergraduate at Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, TX. The school is a private Magnet school. Mitchell is the third of siblings. They include Kristina Kristie Mitchell. Katherine Day Kate Mitchell was born in the same year. Mitchell earned a bachelor of fine arts in acting in the acting department at Stephens College in 1991.
