Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It became the number one streamed music at that period within the space of six months. The mix of reggaeton with pop music not only brought attention back to the genre, but also to Latin music as a whole. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to two in 2015. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017, however, 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it into the top 100 In 2020, there were 41 of them. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017 and soon after popular artists began working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). In the year 2020, some Reggaeton artists were complaining about the direction of their genre to the mainstream. Yet, a young generation like Rauw Alejandro was keen to keep the trend going. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms and others into his music.
